Positive Reinforcement Training

Positive reinforcement is widely recognized as one of the most effective and humane methods for training puppies and adult dogs. This training approach focuses on rewarding desired behaviors rather than punishing unwanted ones.

This method is especially beneficial for puppies as it helps them develop confidence and trust their owners from an early age. Rewards such as treats, praise, or toys encourage puppies to repeat good behaviors, making the learning process effective and enjoyable. For adult dogs, positive reinforcement is equally effective. It shapes desired behaviors and helps prevent the development of bigger issues like anxiety, aggression, or destructive tendencies.

Why Dog Training Elite is Committed to Positive Reinforcement

At Dog Training Elite, we believe dogs learn best when they feel secure, loved, and motivated. That’s why we incorporate positive reinforcement into all of our training programs. Our approach is based on the idea that rewarding good behavior leads to lasting results, helping your dog develop the skills they need to succeed in any environment.

By focusing on positive reinforcement, we teach your dog obedience and strengthen the bond between you and your pet, making the training experience rewarding for both of you. Whether you’re working on basic commands, advanced obedience, or addressing specific behavioral issues, our commitment to positive reinforcement ensures your dog’s training is effective and humane.

George is clear, patient, while teachin us how to work with our reactive German Shepard. We have used 2 other trainers in the past and by far George and the Dog training elite techiques have been the most effective.

We loved going thru this training! Our dog is just a house pet who needed some extra help with manners and managing excitement. We had tried training on our own, watching videos, using treats, etc. but hadn’t gotten very far. Jared such a huge help with everything! Our dog, Waylon, got so many compliments at easter dinner on his good boy manners! He is now able to do all of his favorite things without hassle like swimming in the lake without excessive barking and walking without pulling or jumping. I cannot recommend this program enough and am grateful we found such a fantastic program and trainer!

I am very happy that my dog and I are learning so many great things from Dog Training Elite of Utah County! It is very exciting to see my 6 month old puppy learn so many new things! Our trainer today was Meagan and she is amazing! In a matter of minutes my puppy learned to “Place” And I also learned how to reinforce what she learned today. It’s a fun and rewarding experience to watch my puppy learn all these wonderful lessons! Thank you Meagan from Dog Training Elite! Shaun M

When I say this I mean it! Deidre has been amazing to work with! She genuinely cares. She lets our family work through things while also knowing exactly how and when to help! She is awesome with people, kids, and dogs! She helped us with our puppy and we had such a great experience we now are working with our 4 year old dog. She also has put in time to learn commands in ASL so we can train the puppy to be our daughter’s service dog which shows how much effort and care she puts in! It has been worth every single dollar we have spent and meant the world to our family! I can not say enough good things!

So my experience is unique in that it turns out after the consultation we could not benefit from their service because they are not offering individual sessions and only packages. We have had our 10-year-old lab mix since he was only three months old. He is super friendly and already 100% trained. However, this winter, he fell down the deck stairs on the ice and is now afraid to go down those stairs. Because of the lay of our land, those stairs and the basement stairs are the only options for him to get outside. Both are now extremely challenging because the dog is afraid. We have been having a really hard time, trying to remedy the situation. We wanted a professional to help rebuild our dog’s confidence. Matt came to our house and immediately our dog took to him. Matt’s knowledge , connection and expertise regarding dog behavior is truly evident! Matt also took time with us to walk around the yard, familiarize himself with the property and then he patiently explained the program with us. As I said, our dog is older and very well trained, so the package based business model is not well suited for us. I would, however 100% recommend this company (and Matt!) for families whose pet needs dedicated training and behavioral modifications. They truly seem to be a very professional business that sincerely cares about dogs and their bond with their humans!

Dog Training Elite NE Wisconsin has been the absolute best decision we've made for our puppy. Ollie started working with Ramiro when he was 6 months old. As a puppy with high energy and high-distractibility, we weren't sure how it would go. Ramiro broke down every training session into simple steps for us and each week built on the previous week. It was easy to keep up with the training because we were able to see small moments of success in Ollie right away. We were immediately impressed by Ramiro's expertise and obvious love for dogs and his willingness to see each dog as an individual. We have also had experience with one of the other trainers at Dog Training Elite, Marcy - and she also has an obvious love for animals and she is also extremely knowledgeable. She, too, has been willing to help out with any questions we have about our puppy. Ollie just passed his Canine Citizenship test - something we didn't think would be possible when we started this journey. Thanks, Dog Training Elite!

We were looking for a psychiatric service dog for our special needs teen From the initial phone consultation to ongoing text support, the team has been helpful and professional throughout. They guided us in selecting the right puppy, and training began in the first week, which made a big difference. Our dog is always excited to see Hailey who comes to our house and meets us in public settings for training- and she’s doing great in group classes. Overall, a very positive experience—I’d recommend this company, especially Austin and Hailey.

We have had the best experience with George and the dog training elite program. My dog Roy has struggled with anxiety and reactivity for years and it's caused me anxiety because I'm not sure how best to help him! Working with George has been exactly what we needed. It is not a fix overnight but his curriculum and tools truly work! At the first individual in-home session George had to meet us outside and across the street. My dog was so reactive and in a muzzle- George could not even touch! Fast forward to our 7th in home session and I can tell my dog to go to his place, without a muzzle, and George can knock on the door or ring our doorbell and he won't move. George will enter our home and my dog will greet him, when allowed and George can even give him affection! The amount of progress we've seen makes me so happy. If you're struggling with not knowing how best to train your dog, look no further. I cannot recommend this program enough!

Jason at Dog Training Elite has been a tremendous help for us with our 2 year old lab mix who was dealing with anxiety, recall, leash pulling, and impulse control. Finn loved Jason and responded super well to the lessons. My wife and I were already decent at basic training from our older dog but Finn is a bit more stubborn and needed a different training method. Jason was patient and guided us through how Finn learns and responds to training differently than our other dog. We worked on lots of things to help confidence, leash pulling, and impulse control. Jason was flexible to meet for home visits, outdoor lessons, and even Home Depot. I would recommend him to anyone in CT but we were based on Glastonbury, CT. The group training is an awesome perk as well to build confidence around other well-behaved dogs. Jason and his team were super helpful and accessible for questions we had outside of our scheduled lessons as well.

It has been avery positive experience working primarily with Annie. She is very clear in her directives and extremely patient with not only my dog, but also with me. Here's hoping that I will be able to continue training to the best possible result!!

23 Apr 2026: Rhett was absolutely awesome working with my service dog in training. I had a gap in sessions due to medical reasons and he was great with instruction and getting us back on a structured path. Dog Training Elite has gone above and beyond in accommodating me in a rural area by coming out an hour and half just to make sure we are getting the training and resources we need! Watching my dog progress after each session and getting the handler skills needed to continue work between instructor lead sessions is really an amazing to experience. 06 Aug 2025: First day of training was exceptionally informative. Julia was extremely professional and knowledgeable instilling confidence moving forward. I definitely know I made the right choice for my service dog needs. 18 Sept 2025: Fast forward into a few sessions later and still absolutely impressed with the level of professionalism and results

In-Home Training

When it comes to dog training, many facilities only offer group classes. While these classes can be beneficial in certain situations, they often fail to address specific behavioral issues and provide personalized attention. Group classes tend to focus on general obedience in a controlled environment, which may not accurately reflect your dog's real-life challenges at home.

Benefits of In-Home Training

At Dog Training Elite, we prioritize in-home training before introducing them to group settings. Here’s why in-home training is an important first step:

  • Training in a Familiar Environment: In-home training occurs where your dog spends most of their time. This familiar setting helps your dog feel secure and comfortable, making it easier for them to learn and retain new behaviors.
  • Personalized Attention: Our trainers focus on your dog's specific behavioral challenges, providing customized solutions. This one-on-one approach ensures your dog gets the attention they need to succeed.
  • Fewer Distractions: Unlike group classes, in-home training minimizes distractions, allowing your dog to focus better on the lessons. By eliminating the chaos of group environments, we can address behaviors more effectively.
  • Involvement of the Whole Family: In-home training encourages active participation from all family members. This collaborative approach ensures everyone is on the same page, reinforcing consistent commands and behaviors across the board.

At Dog Training Elite, we offer both in-home training and group classes. It’s important to note we only introduce your pup to group classes when our trainers and you feel comfortable doing so.

By working one-on-one with your pup before they meet other friends, we address the root causes of their behavior and ensure they are well-behaved in the place that matters most–your home.

For many dog owners, having a well-behaved dog that can be trusted off-leash is a top goal, but it’s not always easy to achieve. Off-leash obedience requires a high level of training, where your dog listens and responds, even in a distracting environment.

At Dog Training Elite, we specialize in off-leash k9 training. Our programs are made to match each dog’s unique temperament and behavior, ensuring the training is both effective and long-lasting. With years of experience handling all types of dogs, Dog Training Elite helps you achieve confidence in your pet, whether on leash or off.
